When We Are Open
We are open every day beginning at 7:05 am and close at 3 pm. Late buses run Monday through Thursday and leave at 2:55 pm.
Students may use the media center by obtaining an electronic pass in the morning through the library website.
Be sure to sign in once you arrive. Once you sign into the library, you are expected to stay for the remainder of the period. If you need to leave, let a staff member know and create a SmartPass to your destination.
Library misSion, policy and procedures
The mission of the Berlin Public Schools Library Media Centers is to encourage intellectual curiosity and build a culture of reading. appreciation for and a love of reading. Our libraries create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for students to advance their literacy and technology skills necessary for success.
Named in honor of former principal, Thomas F. Galvin, our Library Media Center aims to support students and teachers’ learning:
Through our collection of books, databases, and other reference materials, we support independent learning and creating.
Through our collections of non-fiction, fiction, graphic literature, and periodicals we support independent reading and career exploration.
Through our professional collection, we support teachers’ self improvement and research.
With our flexible space and available resources, we provide a common space for meeting, studying, and creating.
Through our Technology Integration Specialist, the Library Media Center provides technical assistance to students and staff and supports BHS' 1:1 Chromebook Initiative.
Borrowing Books and Magazines:
· You may borrow any of the items in the library collection. The loan period is three (3) weeks. If you need it for longer, you may renew it.
· If you lose an item, you have three (3) months to find it. If you can’t locate it, you can pay for it or replace it with a new item.
· Use the online catalog at http://lmc.berlinschools.org to search for a title. Our fiction collection is organized by genre.
Usernames/passwords:
· We have a large number of databases and online resources to support student learning and help with class assignments. Usernames/passwords can be found on our Schoology Library page as well as on this website under Research/Databases. When in doubt, just ask!!
Expectations of the library:
· Be respectful! Clean up after yourself. Please help us keep the space clean and neat.
